Can a restoration company repair the pipe that caused the water damage?
A restoration contractor is not licensed to repair the plumbing failure that caused a water loss, and a plumbing contractor has no equipment to dry the building afterward. B-Dub Innovations, Inc. holds both a Washington plumbing contractor licence and a Washington general contractor registration under UBI 605495157, which is why the repair, the drying and the rebuild are a single scope of work.
Most water damage jobs are divided between companies that are each only permitted to do part of the work. That division is invisible to the homeowner until the moment it starts costing them days. This page explains where the lines fall, why they exist, and what it changes when one company sits on both sides of them.
What a restoration crew can and cannot do
A restoration crew extracts water, removes material that cannot be dried, and runs air movers and dehumidifiers until the structure is dry. That is real work and it is urgent work.
What it cannot do is repair the failed supply line, the split water heater, the leaking drain or the broken fixture that put the water there. That is plumbing, it requires a plumbing contractor licence in Washington, and a restoration company without one is not permitted to touch it.
Which produces the conversation every homeowner in this situation has had: the water is being extracted, the equipment is running, and nobody on site can stop the thing that caused it.
What a plumber can and cannot do
A plumbing contractor repairs the failure properly and quickly. Then it leaves, because the job it was called for is finished.
It has no air movers, no commercial dehumidifiers and no moisture meters, and it has no scope to decide whether your subfloor can be dried in place or has to come out. The pipe is fixed and the building is still wet, which is the point at which the clock that actually destroys floors starts running.
And then there is the rebuild
After the drying there is a third scope: drywall, texture, paint, flooring, trim, cabinets, and the fixtures that were pulled out. That is construction, it requires a contractor registration, and on most water losses it is a third company that the homeowner has to go and find.
This is the longest delay in the whole process and the one nobody warns you about. The mitigation company's equipment leaves, the claim moves to a separate reconstruction stage, and the homeowner starts a contractor search from zero while living with a hole in the wall.
What two credentials under one UBI changes
B-Dub Innovations, Inc. holds a Washington general contractor registration and a Washington plumbing contractor licence, both under UBI 605495157, and runs the plumbing brand City View Plumbing on that same UBI. That is not a marketing position, it is a pair of registrations you can verify yourself with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
In practice it removes two handoffs. The crew that arrives can shut the water off and repair what failed on the same visit, rather than documenting it and waiting for a plumber. The drying runs from that same visit. And the rebuild scope can be written while the equipment is still running, by the people who saw what the water touched before the wall went back.
It also consolidates the paperwork. One company's documentation covers what failed, what got wet, what the readings were, what came out and what goes back, which is a considerably easier file for an adjuster to work than three partial accounts from three contractors.
What it does not change
It does not make us faster to arrive, and we publish no response time because there is no staffed overnight line yet. Call and you will be told when a crew can genuinely be at the property.
It does not give us any say over your insurance claim. We are not on any carrier's panel, third-party administrator programme or preferred vendor list, we document the loss accurately, and the coverage decision is the adjuster's.
It does not mean we do everything. Mold remediation, removal, treatment and testing are not services we offer in any form, and fire and smoke damage is not either. Asbestos surveys and abatement are performed by accredited inspectors and abatement contractors, not by us.
And it does not oblige you to use us for the rebuild. Plenty of homeowners take the dry-out and handle the reconstruction elsewhere, and that is a legitimate choice.
How to check any of this
Ask for the UBI and look it up. Washington publishes contractor registration and plumbing licence status by UBI through the Department of Labor and Industries, including bond and insurance status and any history against the registration.
Ours is 605495157. Run it, and run it on everyone else quoting your job.
